Located to the south of Hanoi, Hoa Lu Ancient Capital was once the capital of the Dinh and Early Le dynasties. Despite more than 1,000 years of history and the devastation of wars, Hoa Lu still preserves invaluable cultural and historical treasures that reflect the heroic and resilient 4,000-year history of Vietnam.
Visitors coming here not only journey back to the past but also admire the breathtaking beauty of rivers, mountains, pagodas, and temples. In particular, the magnificent Bai Dinh Pagoda — the largest pagoda complex in Southeast Asia — is a renowned Buddhist center rich in spiritual, historical, and architectural significance.
Following National Highway 10, travelers will have the chance to explore the Northern Delta, the cradle of Vietnam’s culture and history, before arriving at the world-famous Ha Long Bay — a spectacular natural wonder generously gifted to Vietnam by nature. Rising from the emerald waters are thousands of limestone islands in countless fascinating shapes and sizes.
The journey concludes with a spiritual pilgrimage to Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen Monastery, a sacred Buddhist complex where Vietnamese people and visitors alike come to seek peace and pay homage to the holy land of Buddhism.
07:30: The vehicle and Greentours tour guide pick up guests at the meeting point and depart for Ninh Binh, one of Vietnam’s most famous tourist destinations.
09:00: Visit Bai Dinh Pagoda (electric car fee excluded). Guests will admire the magnificent Three-Entrance Gate built with three-tiered roofs covered in traditional Bat Trang tiles, along with more than 500 elaborately carved green stone Arhat statues. Continue to explore the largest bell tower in Southeast Asia, decorated with intricate patterns and Buddhist scriptures engraved in Chinese characters. Guests also visit Quan The Am Hall and Phap Tru Hall, both entirely constructed from precious ironwood.
12:00: Lunch at a local restaurant with famous Ninh Binh specialties such as goat meat and crispy rice.
13:00: Transfer to Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, the ancient capital of Vietnam from 968 to 1010. Visit two famous historical relics: the Temple of King Dinh Tien Hoang and the Temple of King Le Dai Hanh, two legendary kings known for unifying the country and defending it against foreign invaders. With years of experience and passion, the Greentours guide will bring guests back to the glorious history of nation-building and defense during the Dinh and Early Le dynasties over 1,000 years ago.
