Duong Lam Ancient Village, Thay Pagoda, and Tay Phuong Pagoda are three famous cultural and spiritual destinations of the ancient Xu Doai region, making them must-visit attractions for travelers whenever they come to Hanoi.
Thay Pagoda is renowned for its poetic and peaceful scenery, closely associated with the life and legacy of the great Zen master Tu Dao Hanh. Tay Phuong Pagoda is famous for its extraordinary collection of ancient wooden Arhat statues, considered masterpieces of Vietnamese sculptural art.
Leaving the sacred Buddhist sites behind, visitors continue to Duong Lam Ancient Village — a truly unique ancient village in Vietnam and the homeland of two famous kings. Duong Lam charms visitors with its authentic Northern Vietnamese countryside atmosphere, featuring banyan trees, village gates, communal wells, lotus ponds, and especially the ancient laterite houses that form a living outdoor museum preserving the rich cultural layers of Xu Doai heritage.
Morning: The vehicle and Greentours tour guide pick up guests at the hotel and depart for the famous Xu Doai region, celebrated in Vietnamese poetry and literature. Traveling along Thang Long Boulevard, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the peaceful countryside on the outskirts of Hanoi.
Visit Thay Pagoda, a majestic ancient pagoda well known for its sacred atmosphere. Guests can also hike up Sai Son Mountain to explore Cac Co Cave, Thanh Hoa Cave, and admire the picturesque landscape of mountains and water scenery. Leaving Thay Pagoda, the tour continues to Tay Phuong Pagoda, located on Cau Lau Mountain. This ancient pagoda, covered in moss and rich in history, is especially famous for its collection of 18 precious wooden Arhat statues — considered masterpieces of Vietnamese wood sculpture art. The journey then continues to Duong Lam Ancient Village, the historic homeland of two famous kings in Vietnamese history.
Lunch: Guests enjoy lunch at the private home of writer Ha Nguyen Huyen, a well-known cultural figure of the Xu Doai region.
Afternoon: Visit Mong Phu Communal House, ancient laterite houses, Mia Pagoda, and the Ngo Quyen Temple within the ancient village complex.
